For Those Wondering

I know you’re wondering about the name of our blog, “The Boars’ Mite.” Well, the name sort of chose us. You see the last name, McCollough, actually means son of boar. Not that flattering I know. However, warriors throughout history have often utilized the imagery of the boar because of its reputation for tenacity and strength in battle. We like that imagery because, as you know, we are in a war.

I’m not speaking of the war in Iraq. The war I’m speaking of is the long struggle for biblical truth. Our family desire to be strong, tenacious warriors in this epic battle. As our dear brother John Calvin has said, “A dog barks when his master is attacked. I would be a coward if I saw that God's truth is attacked and yet would remain silent."

Secondly, we chose the term “mite” not because we have a fondness for dust mites, but because it represents a small offering. This blog is our small offering to culture. Here, you’ll not only find ramblings about our lives, but also our musings about biblical truth and the cultural and spiritual issues that are facing our family and world. We hope you’ll always be encouraged, strengthened and provoked to godliness by what you find posted.

May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all,
Brian

For Today....

April 4, 2013

Outside my window...the sun is trying to peek out of the clouds and its a bit chilly outside

I am thinking...about all the things I have to be thankful for

I am thankful... that I get to stay home with my children - even though at times they make me nuts - i wouldn't trade it for anything

From the kitchen... chicken pot pie/homemade rolls

I am wearing...jeans and a shirt

I am reading... still not reading anything right now.....one day i will have time for reading :)

I am hoping..that I can get everything on my list done today

I am hearing... children playing

Around the house...laundry needs to be folded (it will have to wait though)

One of my favorite things..having one of my "little ladies" ask me if they can help me do something

Big Boy

Someone got a "big boy" haircut!!! :)

Homemaking

I absolutely LOVE having my "little ladies" home with me all day.  Its such a blessing to have their help.  Caroline is helping to prep for dinner.....also preparing to be a GREAT wife/mother for the future.  Thank you Lord for this time with my kids!!

New things.....

We started cloth diapers on Monday in hopes to save money and make potty training in the future easier!  I thought this would be a lot harder and a lot messier than it has been. So far.....so good!! :)

For Today

April 3, 2013

Outside my window...it is overcast and has been sprinkling on and off

I am thinking...that I really need to put my son down for a nap (as he is super cranky right now)

I am thankful... my sweet little family the Lord has blessed me with

From the kitchen... meatball subs are on the agenda for tonight :)

I am wearing... brownish colored shorts and a red t-shirt

I am reading... not really reading anything right now.....not alot of time

I am hoping... that we can sort out some things today

I am hearing... my son whining and Barney playing in the background

Around the house...laundry needs to be done (with 6 people it ALWAYS need to be done), things need to be picked up

One of my favorite things... when my son comes and sits in my lap just for me to love on him :)

We're Back!!!

Wow....the last time I wrote in this blog was in 2010!!  How much things have changed since then!!   We now have FOUR children....three girls and a little boy.  Emma Kate is 8 and enjoys reading, dancing, putting on plays and playing outside. She if full of life!!  Caroline is going to be 6 in August and enjoys playing with her siblings, dress up and playing outside.  She is our quiet, yet very thoughtful child.  Maggie Ann is 4 and enjoys playing with babies, listening to music and also loves to be outside.  She is super funny and makes us laugh quiet often.  Jude (he wasn't hear last time I blogged) will be 2 in August and he is quiet the little boy. He loves to play with trucks and trains and too likes to be outside as much as possible!!  We have two that are being home schooled this year - Emma Kate (2nd grade) and Caroline (Kindergarten).  Brian has been promoted at his job and we have enjoyed traveling back and forth with him to North Carolina while he gets his training done for his new position.  We are still attending Millbrook Presbyterian church and enjoy serving there as much as possible.  I am busy with caring for children, teaching children, the wife/mother duties of the home as well as get opportunities to take photos on occasion! I hope to start blogging again on a regular basis.....we shall see though!!

Until next time.....
