The Prodigal

Today as we had our Bible time we read about The Prodigal Son.  Though I have read this story probably a million times, used it in my own life as an example - today it spoke to me in a different way.

Our story states this:

"The father had been thinking about his boy all that time. He still loved his boy. Every day he looked down the road, hoping to see his boy come home again. And so, while the young man was still a long way from home, the father saw him coming. He ran to meet his son. He threw his arms around him!!"

The father waits and as he waits never once does not think about his child.  He continues to have love for his child and possibly even pray for his child.  Every day he waits - I am sure it probably wasn't a 'patient' wait at times - never does he give up hope.

I picture the day his son came home in my head and it goes a little something like this:

There the father is perhaps working in the fields near his home.  He looks up from his work and sees a silhouette in the distance and perhaps thinks 'could that be him - could that be my son?' And though his son was still far off he begins to realize it is indeed his son.  The father drops everything, pulls up his tunic and begins to run.  He finally reaches his son and throws himself around his child and they both weep together.  The fathers prayers have been answered.

I am reminded today that though we sin and mess up each and every day; the Father is waiting for us.  His arms are opened wide.  He is waiting with unconditional love - ready to throw His arms around us.....waiting for us to come HOME!!

~Until next time......
